Blue Carre (Escher) 1974 - 4 inch

Pattern based on a design on a sheet of wrapping paper.

Not sure if this is Dark Red or Maroon Carre again, 4 inch

Duet or Duo 1981 4 inch

Blue Cordon 1961 4 inch

Red Cordon 7 inch on clear glass

Large 8 inch Black Cordon

Red Polka Dot 4 inch - 1974

Dark Green Polka Dot 4 inch clear glass

Large 8 inch Bandel Type 1 Black Clear glass c 1960

Gingham Red 5 inch clear glass 1978

Blue Gingham 5 inch clear glass 1978

The base of the red and blue Gingham. Note the pattern difference. This apparently was a nightmare for Chance/Fiesta
to get right.

There is a Chance Ashtray on ebay with, I think, a Townsend Piper. For only 8.00 (and that's dollars not pounds). I think it's mine!

Saw a reverse polka dot hankie vase today - didn't have any money on us and we couldn't be bothered to walk to the cashpoint quite a way away so we didn't buy it. It's the red and white polka dot design but the reverse colourway (red dots onto a white ground) which is pretty rare. Will make a great bargain for whoever ends up buying it (had a ticket price of only £12!!!).

A question for the Chancer's:

My Dad was in the army (Gurkha Rifles) and I remember an ashtray similar to the above with their regimental emblem on it, long since smashed / lost - could that have been Chance Glass?

Yep it could well have been chance. They made all sorts of commercial, commerative and advertising bits of glass.
Shame it's gone.

Officially Chance was absorbed by Pilkington in 1981 when they moved North. They started in 1824, so a long history.

I am now the proud owner of a lovely piece of Scottish Kitsch. A Chance (complete with label -- glass collecting for dummies) plate with a Peter Townsend (I'm pretty sure) Piper on it.

And now I own a second, possibly chance, probably not a Townsend (either Peter or Kenneth). It does, however, have the regimental arms for my husband's grandfather (the Cameronians). I'll take pictures of it shortly. (No labels this time). And they are getting cheaper. This one was only $6.00.
