Re: The Anglepoise Lamp
This is the later version of the Anglepoise 1227, with a two-tiered base and a slightly wider shade than the original lamps to accomodate 40w bulbs - produced between 1938-1969.
The British Council Design Museum has an excellent article about the Anglepoise on their website: http://www.designmuseum.org/design/anglepoise

Re: The Anglepoise Lamp
Here is a very early and rare example I own made by the designer of the Anglepoise at his own premises in Bath, prior to his collaboration with Herbert Terrys & Son.
It probably dates to 1930-31.

Gosh. The Cardine ones are like hen's teeth! I'm envious.

Re: The Anglepoise Lamp
Great site - I've visited it a few times in the past, and thought your photos looked familiar.
I don't suppose you know whereabouts 1227 lamps with bakelite shades and non-adjustable springs fit into the Anglepoise timeline? I've one, and can find nothing on it in books or online.
