Iittala - Tapio Wirkkala designs

Tapio Wirkkala (1915 - 1985)

Active at Iittala: 1946 - 1984.



Olut- tai Piimätuopit / Beer & Sour Milk Tankard (Model 2052). Designed 1963, produced 1963 - 1966.



'Ultima Thule' 120mm Bowl (Model 2332). Designed 1968, produced 1970 - Present.



'Ultima Thule' 175mm Bowl (Model 2332). Designed 1968, produced 1970 - c.2000.



'Ultima Thule' 5cl Cordial Tumblers (Model 2032). Designed 1968, produced 1969 - Present.





'Ovalis' (Model 3036). Designed 1959, produced 1959 - 1966 / 1977 - c.2006.
(Early versions bear the hand-engraved signature: 'Tapio Wirkkala 3036' and later examples have a sand-blasted stencil backstamp that just reads: 'Tapio Wirkkala')

More Ultima Thule - lovely stuff it is - we have some tumblers we use and they're nice to drink really cold water from - tastes colder because of the icicle effect I swear!

The vase is Form 3581, manufactured 1960-1970.
