Originally J Uffrecht used both red and white clay (the white clay sourced from central Germany). When Carstens bought the factory and it became Carstens Uffrecht, they continued to use both types - after the war VEB Haldensleben* lost the ability to buy the white clay of the quality they wanted and so switched production entirely to the red.

*Just before the Second World War the Carstens Uffrecht factory was taken over by the DDR state and renamed VEB Haldesleben.

Set of 4 stylish, but unknown cups/mugs - Deco-ish?

Post by vanmann on Sat Dec 11, 2010 10:09 pm

I bought this set of mugs/cups because of the great looking colours and design of handles etc. Would love to get some idea of origin.
