Fornasetti (Italy)

Post by Pip on Sun Mar 08, 2009 3:57 pm

Sadly, I've never owned any Fornasetti design despite admiring it since the early 80s however we need to have a Fornasetti thread in my opinion, click the link below to go to the official Fornasetti website. If anyone has any photos of their own pieces that they'd like to contribute to this thread, feel free :-)

I should add here that about 20 years ago I was offered a large Fornasetti cabinet for £20 which I had to decline (was skint at the time) - I've since always wished I'd stretched to it somehow.

Piero Fornasetti Spezie Jars

Post by jsc on Wed Mar 10, 2010 9:03 pm

Hi,
My first post. Hopefully I'll get this right.
Adding pics of some pieces I have owned. I emailed these to Fornasetti.com and was amazed that Barnaba Fornasetti would be looking at them for me! Very cool indeed !!! Then a few days later his assistant, Miss Yuki, sent me this info:

The “pepper” is part of a set of 12 vases named “spezie” with 12 different spices.

The “rice” and “coffee” are of the third size of vases with lid like this made by Piero Fornasetti. The numbers went from 1 (smallest) to 6 (biggest) so there were other 3 sizes bigger than rice and coffee you have.

Please note that they are in ceramic.
