Re: Karlsruher
you have fantastic pots. How long have you been collecting?

Re: Karlsruher
Thank you very much Narcissus. I had my first lava vase (Scheurich not fat lava) in 1979. I've always collected things as has my husband - our friends call us magpies! With a few notable exceptions e.g. Schmider, Karlsruher, I have not deliberately collected any specific pots or bits but tend to buy what I like if its a reasonable price. Unfortunately this often precludes me buying the more expensive items like Roth and many Shaffenacker are now out of my reach but I still keep trying! I've also been collecting ceramic ashtrays since I was a child as I grew up in pubs and the salesmen would often be giving away attractive or weirdly wonderful ashtrays that advertised their alcohol or tobacco products. In recent years I've collected quite a few German made ashtrays too. I've also got quite a few of the Water jugs that were made for the same purpose as the ashtrays. My prized ashytrays are a Beswick made Babycham ashtray from the 60s/early 70s and the most exspensive one I've ever bought which is a Carltonware red Haig whiskey ashtray (numbered and dated) from I think the 30s but not to hand at the moment to check. I've also got two red Haig whiskey water jugs each from a different period. Mind you, they're not beautiful in the same way as the Karlsruher above!
