A strange Bay jug

Post by mr paige on Sun Apr 06, 2008 3:40 pm

245-40
This one seems to me to exhibit elements of theft or influence. A handle like Scheurich's 274, a base glaze like D&B 1302 or 979 with patches like Ruscha's Marokko. Seminal or rip-off, it's certainly an odd one. The brush strokes are a bit rubbish too!

Form 958-14:

.

And yes, I know it's not a beautifull one. There are two reasons I bought it: It was only 1 euro, and I was intrigued by the label at the bottom:

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas about its meaning?

Double German Vase

Post by skay on Wed Apr 30, 2008 9:24 pm

Happy

I'm sure I've seen similar with this gilding here before but I can't find it?

The base says GERMANY 559 20 with some red markings as well.

xx

Set of 3 Bay Keramic

Post by fixit_bear on Tue May 06, 2008 7:31 am

The 2 handled pot is marked Germany 60 over 10 - can't work out what the 10 refers to, it is nothing like any of the dimensions. One of the small pots is marked Foreign 511 over 6, the other interestingly is Germany 511 over 6. Why the tartan box? Might these have been boxed by a retailer? There are no markings on the box to help.
