STIG LINDBERG
As promised, some photographs of Stig Lindberg "Spektralov' gourd.
I seemed to have backed myself into a corner...
my interests in reverse order are Retro, MidCentury, Scandinavian, Swedish, Gustavsberg, Stig Lindberg, Lidded Gourds.
I have included a group shot of some of the other gourds in the collection.

Re: Gustavsberg (Sweden)
Oops! Thanks Pip, didn't realise there was a Gustavsberg thread.
I do a "Stig of the Month" post on my blog kirkmodern.blogspot.com to show some of the rare designs. I will post some more soon but here is a nice selection of vases to drool over.

Re: Gustavsberg (Sweden)
A selection of Stig Lindberg leaf 'salad' bowls. These guys came in two sizes, the large ones being harder to find because they were so easily damaged. Organic curved forms, particularly leaves, were a recurring theme in both shapes and decoration.

Re: Gustavsberg (Sweden)
This is one of the biggest pieces of Stig Lindberg I have found. The size really gives a great display of the pattern.

Re: Gustavsberg (Sweden)
....and this is the one of the biggest pieces from the 'Karneval' range which again shows a great deal of painting.

Stig Gourds
The Stig lidded gourds are very beautiful, and the "spektralov" design, for me, is the most successful marriage of form and decoration in the series.
Londoners (and visitors to London!) can go and drool at a particularly lovely one in the new ceramics gallery in the V&A, or why not save up £1000 or more and buy one?
Wishful thinking...

Re: Gustavsberg (Sweden)
It's getting nearly impossible to find nice new pieces of Stig Lindberg, it was exciting to spot this beautiful gourd bowl recently. Painted in graphic dark blue stripes, which really accentuate the curve of this beautiful tactile shape, this piece was painted by Goivanni Pugno in c.1949.

Re: Gustavsberg (Sweden)
Nice to see the new (March) edition of BBC Homes & Antiques magazine featuring so many mid century retro inspired items, and always good to see a feature on Stig Lindberg. Chosen by Antiques Roadshow expert Will Farmer as the "One To Watch" it is a little behind time on the International market as there has been a lot of 'heat' in his designs for the last couple of years with the hand painted faience ware proving particularly popular in Japan and USA. The price guides are slightly low as I can't remember the last time I came across a piece of Stig for £15, even a piece of Bersa.

Re: Gustavsberg (Sweden)
....and then there were two!
I have a collection of Stig gourd covered bowls (or onion dishes) but my favourite piece is the large Spektrum gourd. I was always on the lookout for the smaller version to complete the family and.....today it arrived.
