Cinque Ports (Sussex)
Cinque Ports Pottery was established in 1956 by former Rye Pottery employee, David Sharp, together with his friend George Cray. They continued until 1964 when they parted company and George moved to The Monastery with his production being marked as such on the back-stamp. He was very successful but handed the company over to Jim Elliot (from Iden Pottery) in the 1980's who again changed the back-stamp slightly.

Re: Cinque Ports (Sussex)
The De Bethel cats aren't Cinque Ports though - Joan and David de Bethel started off making papier mache cats (which this one is) - they're very rare and highly collectable - do you remember the very damaged De Bethel papier mache cat that Paul bought for £2 and we sold on eBay for around £150? It's on this board somewhere.
Later on the De Bethels stopped making papier mache cats and started painting onto Rye Blanks.

Re: Cinque Ports (Sussex)
Hope I can remember how to add pics :) I don't often buy pots but just occasionally I see something I can't resist - this is one of them bought recently. A massive Cinque Ports urn or vase 9 1/2" tall by 71/2" wide, wonderful colours and a very unusual design.
