I can't make out the numbers on the base - the pattern looks like lsd inspired roses - it was the age for it.....

Yellow vase with raised greenish-black trailed flowers. Japan or German?

Post by NaomiM on June 8th 2012, 4:33 pm

Picked this up in a charity shop. It has Foreign stamped in black on the base so I'm assuming it's either post WW2 Japan, or post WW1 German. Pottery under the glaze. Because it's not porcelain and it doesn't look like satsuma, my money would be on it being German.

Vibrant yellow glaze. Raised stylized flowers around centre, plus stripes around rim and base - made of grog and glazed in greenish-black (brown where it's thinner on the base). Charcoal black glaze on the inside.

Any suggestions as to the maker appreciated.
