Vallauris (South of France)

Thanks so much for looking anyway, perhaps it is the design name...but I had heard that sometimes forms were made overseas then decorated in Vallauris to serve the mass market. So I was wondering if it was that; but then it would probably be more common to see this on other examples.

It might be less sinister and just be a little known Vallauris pottery, so I might just go with that.

I would love to know what that shade looked like when new. Obviously the shades are the most friable components and that one looks like its been deep-fried and then half eaten

The base is from the boot sale this am. First decent piece of Le Vaucour I've got from there in 20 years of looking and probably the last.
The shade I already had on a larger base but it looked a bit incongruous. It suits this base much better. 
The base is not marked but it certainly looks right.

You could be right. Without the signature it is difficult to be absolutely sure.


The dimensions are exactly like my other one.
The orange is used on other shapes by MLV but it was used by many others as well.
Would the lave glaze have been fired at the same time as the orange or would they require different temperatures?

its the bluish tinge to the lava glaze that makes me think of Luc but who knows

I was wondering it the colour variation came fron firing twice, at different temps for the different glazes.

could be but I think it's the composition of the glaze, LeVaucour does do some bluish stuffas well I see

I love the stark monotone of my other boats and Swan, but I've never seen a boat with this brilliant flash of colour and I am dumbfounded that it is mine. The chances of it being in my life-path are infinitesimal, and yet......
