Re: Vallauris (South of France)
I've got a handled pot with a lid not all that different (not Robert Picault or even French), I would be inclined to think it is "right", but of poor quality potting.
I've got a jar by another maker where the lid (correct lid) will almost fall in the pot, as the potting is that poor.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
Here's a large Gerbino bowl made in 2001, for me it lacks the studio look of the earlier pieces, the colours are dull and lifeless and I doubt Jean would have approved (sorry Yvan)

Vallauris Pitcher with Label & Signature ?
Hi, bought this a while ago. It has a gold foil label on it that says Vallauris. Looks to be a signature but I can not make it out. The surface is as rough as can be (as a picture is worth a 1000 words......LOL). This is about 7 inches tall, and about 5 inches wide at the widest point.

Does anyone know what year this is from, and who the maker (signature) is?
Thanks

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
Is it typical Vallauris to imitate the wooden texture?
I'm asking because I've found several pieces with this kind of texture, signed Vallauris.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
mostly the grandjean joudan pottery tho there are some copiers . Matt finish for 50s pieces shiny glaze for 60s and brightly coloured interiors for 70s

Roger Capron
Hi there
This is one of my favourite ceramics, bought at one of the most insignificant car boot sales I have ever been to. I love it.

Roger not Jean!!
Thanks for pointing that out! I realised my error as soon as I'd posted my reply. What a dumbo!! Not sure where I got Jean from.
I love everything about this piece. The glaze, the shape, the colours, and the fish itself. No, it wasn't a fiver. If I remember rightly it was 50p.
Does anyone know the years of production, and if there are any other variations of this design?
Thanks
