7" stoppered bottle

I found this pretty bottle today but unfortunately no marks  
I wondered if anyone recognises it, also could someone tell me how to describe this glaze. Many thanks : )

Embarassingly, I don't know what the glaze effect is called, especially as I deal in such things. There is more than one glaze used here, with the oatmeal one put on by dipping the bottle first and then allowing it to dry. Could be wax resist to get the pattern but I'm not sure.

Unusual to have a stopper and looks a little like older David Frith work but can't really put a name to the likely potter. I'll think.

it's a common enough glaze but I don't know the techinal name either /or really care, terms are bandied about that mean very little sometimes , i'm not being derogatory tp potters at all , tenmoku , anagama etc are just japanse words that mean a type of firing , it's partly hype I think as in restaurants describing food .

Not really glazes that Japanese use but I know what you mean about the dark stoneware body.

Looks a fair bit like Donald Glanville, but that's just my best guess.

Thank you all for your ideas, really appreciated. I bought it because I thought it well made - I've been googling ash glaze, shino glaze and allsorts.

I like this. Shame it's not marked; it looks well made.

I think it's a wax resist technique that makes the pattern.

That resist banding/ brushwork combination is a bit like some of Andrew Hague's browner (and I'm guessing earlier) work.

I'm surprised we don't have a Glanville thread yet in Studio Pottery.

Found a few Glanville pots, but it seems to be a lighter clay body.

Possible. I think he's still around, albeit retired. Might be worth asking him.

I haven't come up with a definitive answer but I wondering if it is an old piece by Derek Clarkson or maybe someone that he taught.

I see what you mean SP, Clarkson made/makes lovely bottles. Really appreciate your help on this one but I think it will remain a mystery being unmarked.

Zip, I have a big lump of Andrew Hague in front of me and that rim shape and them glaze colours looks mighty familiar. I think Naomi maybe right. Look for the scale stuff. Terrible pic sorry - cooking dinner
