Dartington Pottery

Post by dantheman on Thu Feb 07, 2008 2:32 pm

Dartington Pottery is one of the unsung heros of the 20th century British ceramics world,With pottery giants such as Janice Tchalenko,Petra Tilly and Alan White, all chosing to work at Dartington in recent years, there is little wonder that the output was stunningly good.
Dartington closed in April 2006 when it merged with Grayshott pottery.

Dartington closed recently and work has been transfered to Grayshott pottery.

I was talking to Petra Tilly last weekend, she told me she was very busy with commission work from Grayshott so it looks like the phoenix is rising from the ashes, hopefully we will be able to buy some new pieces in the Dartington glazes very soon.

Blue Wood designed and decorated by Petra Tilly.
Petra was asked to decorate all the Blue Wood pieces personally as it was important to keep the black outlines loose and quickly painted so if you buy one you are buying a very collectable piece
