Needham Pottery, Norfolk and Suffolk (Mary and Godfrey Newcomb)

Post by mole-and-ratty on September 30th 2018, 2:53 pm

The Needham Pottery was established near Harleston in Norfolk by Mary Newcomb in the early 1950s. The pottery mainly produced traditional English slipware for domestic use and for display. When Mary Newcombís career as an artist took off in the 1960s, her husband Godfrey took over the pottery. In the early 1970s, the pottery was moved to Linstead Magna in Suffolk, where it continued into the 1980s.
I am writing a history of the Needham Pottery; does anyone have examples of Needham Pottery in their collection, or have personal memories about Mary and Godfrey Newcomb and their pottery?

Iíve come across some mystery GN marks. Is it possible they are Godfrey Newcombís?

Great, thank you very much for the links Naomi.
No, Godfrey Newcomb didn't use a stamp like that - could it be an alternative for Geoffrey Northcote?
