Troika?

Hi all,

I have in my possession a pottery vase.
I have spoken to an 'expert' and they have informed me that they believe it to be early Troika.
However this piece is unmarked.

Measures approx -
13" diameter
6" width (widest part)


What do you think?

Not Troika imo, but I don't know who made it. A 60s-70s student piece is very possible but it's a nice decorative piece.

I wouldn't be that quick to dismiss it. This piece wouldn't be out of place amongst the professional studio pottery of the US and Australia. If only it had a mark so we'd know where to start looking.
However, if you look at the 60s 70s Art College photos (I think Alan Wallwork or Rooke websites have some), then it wouldn't look out of place there either. I think it was Wallwork who said they had one clay and two glazes.

I love this piece. Irrespective of who produced it (Troika obviously would add value) it demonstrates a combination of a considered and balanced approach to the design of it's form with a raw energy and visceral feel to decoration. In my opinion whoever made it knew exactly what they and their ceramics were about
