One of several tiles that are all similar in style.
Hi folks, this is one of several similar styled tiles I have, though this is the only one with any markings to the reverse.
Incised BAT, then what I presume to be the date - 15/7/96, followed by the word GROG. I believe that this means it has had a pre fired ground up clay mixture added to prevent cracks during the firing process. If that was the case it did not quite work, not that I am the least bit bothered by firing cracks, they add character for me.
Any ideas as to to maker anyone? Many thanks, John.

Most likely it's a test tile which didn't quite work so they probably changed the mix for the next test.
I dont think any of the Marks are the potter's monogram so difficult to ID unless another one comes along with a mark.

Thank's Naomi. I did wonder something along those lines myself, but was hoping to be wrong.
