WIVENHOE POTTERY PIN TRAY - John Dan

Hi everyone, we purchased this rather sweet little dish as we think its rather nice. We think it is by Wivenhoe pottery in Essex.
Cant find much on line about the pottery so any info would be appreciated

Two potters used a fish with a W inside: John Dan at Wivenhoe, and Peter Wright. I think this is John Dan. The 2nd edition of the Marks book says he had a very small output, and he was dropped from the 3rd edition.

Hi Naomi my thoughts match yours! I was thinking without the JD it may have been a more generic item, its a nice little tray. I wonder what happened John Dan for him to have such a small output

Maybe he took up potting in his retirement?

Sorry the photo is so big. This is one of his pots bought from him in the late seventies in Wivenhoe. I love it! It has a fish mark on the side containing a W and his initials JD beside it.
Sadly, John died before reaching retirement.In the early eighties, I believe.
