SC mark - Charles Spacey or Stephen Carter?
Bought at a jumble sale and wondered if anyone recognises the mark? Thanks!

Re: SC mark - Charles Spacey or Stephen Carter?
What I can say from what I can see is that it is not by Seth Cardew, which would be the obvious choice of someone looking through a studio pottery marks book.
It would be useful to have an image of bowl (?) as well if that's possible.

So not a bowl then!
The brushwork on the vase might help with an ID.

Re: SC mark - Charles Spacey or Stephen Carter?
It might be by Seth Cardew, but if you compare it with a couple of examples on ebay (completed listings) there are also differences, ie, there's usually another stamp next to the monogran - for Wenford Bridge - which is missing. And this CS stamp is round, where as Seth's is square.
But marks change, and this might be an early pot of his.

I agree with SP, I don't think it's by him

Re: SC mark - Charles Spacey or Stephen Carter?
If I repeat what I said in my first post does that make it 3-2?

Charles Spacey, Powys, Wales?

Spacey began potting in Switzerland and moved to Powys in 1993. I have seen some of his work from around the time he moved to wales and it was nothing like this. Not sure he throws either. The work I know is slab built, geometric patterned and with matt glazes.

Re: SC mark - Charles Spacey or Stephen Carter?
A bit after the fact, I realise, but don't think Seth Cardew, either. There's no serif terminal on the 'C' instroke as is commonly found and the 'S' is too square. Decoration doesn't look sophisticated enough, either.
