Small vase marked Foreign 203 8
Another ID question
This is only 8cm tall and I know it's a common shape but I really like this little vase. There is one little section that has a flash of "I dunno what" green.... and well it just appeals to me. Basehas FOREIGN and I think it is 203 with a line underneath then 8.
Oh & I love the effect on the inner rim........momma

BAY, Westerwald, West Germany !
Bay 203/8, with green glaze and gold rim about 1955
The vase 203 was already produced before WW2, acc. to a pricelist 1938, sizes 12 up to 50 cm. Still in production 1957 and 1960 with different sizes 7, 8, 10, 12 14, 17, 20 cm.
Vase 511 over 6 = Jasba, 50s, seen in a brochure 1951, but might be produced
later.
Both vases stamped FOREIGN instead of GERMANY, that´s unusual.

I'm new to all this. Today I saw a similar piece which was also marked 'foreign' underneath. When this type of piece is marked 'foreign' are they often German?

Yes, I think so. Often, not always. Could be e.g. of french or italian origin too, as far as I know.
As the export ratio was already high about 1950 vases, bowls etc. of many
german factories were stamped GERMANY, FOREIGN, after 1955 WEST GERMANY
oder W.GERMANY. They had to if exported to UK.
Mostly dry stamps, raised or impressed (Jasba, Bay, Scheurich, Carstens etc.) Sometimes wet stamps. (Übelacker) Just a few companies as Fohr stamped MADE IN GERMANY.
