Post by debbie32 on January 22nd 2017, 11:35 am

Hello I found this figurine in a job lot and wondered if anyone could offer any help on the maker/backstamp? quite unusual with the figure wearing a venetian bauta mask and dress. Think that its soft paste. Thanks for looking

Looks like Chelsea pottery.

Goddens states:
"Any chelsea anchor mark over 1/4 inch high should be treated with suspicion"
also:
"Many continental factories also used an anchor mark."

Chelsea anchor is usually marked in gold anyway.

Derby and Worcester also used the mark, but not sure it's any of these.

Many thanks for your comments. I'll carry on with the research as you say the mark does look a bit big to be chelsea.
