Saucy Continental dish

I guess that at a time when a flash of ankle was considered indiscreet, this dish would have been seen as quite racy. I wonder if they put the ventilation hole where they did knowingly.

Anyway, almost certainly German / Czechoslovakian but does anyone recognize the impressed daisy and BB mark on the bottom, I mean underside, please?

99% sure it is Austrian from just before the 1st world war. Franz Bergman made these in bronze a desk accessories. They got ruder the later on they went, so that why I'm thinking its that date rather than the 1920's. The initials should be from the factory that made it.

Perhaps Bernhard Bloch of Eichwald (who certainly did some risqué dishes).

Thanks both! A very good excuse to admire Bergman's rather agreeable bronzes and Bloch looks like a very good contender as the producer.

Don't think there is any doubt it's by Bloch. The signature and style is the same. Nice find you see a lot of modern copies in base metal although most show more than an ankle.

I like this more modest naughty dish better. Its charming because it shows so little.
