Peter Swanson (Penzance)

Pair of mugs and cream jug by Peter Swanson.
Mugs stamped PS. Jug stamped Swanson.
Bought them from a collector of studio pottery who'd bought these direct from the pottery a number of years ago, and said Swanson was experimenting with natural ash glazes at the time.

Yes and no.

Peter has been making a living from potting in Cornwall since 1974 and much of his work is gas fired reduced stoneware, where he uses locally sourced materials for his glazes such as clay, rock dust and tree/plant ash. Around 2007 he built a small anagama wood-fired kiln and does produce "gnarly" pots but the bulk of his work is still gas fired.

I was just going through some of my old images and found this and the next one, which were two pots from the exhibition of Peter's work that I staged in May 2008.

............... and a wood-fired bottle.

Found this at a car boot sale today, not been able to find out the maker as of yet, wondering if anyone here recognises the mark?

Found this today and identified it as being by Peter Swanson and read a lot about his work online.
Could anyone tell me if it would be a recent piece? Also is his work considered desirable/ collectable ?       Thanks

It's one of Peter's pots but it doesn't look that recent. I have exhibited Peter's work in the past and he does have his followers but it isn't as widely appreciated as it should be.

Got these 2 style of Peter Swanson cups today, second hand.
One looks like celadon glaze, any idea how I describe the other mottled brown glaze? And how old would they be?

Hi - Yes I can see a similarity with Phil Rogers pieces especially the base.
