Salt Glazed Jug

Post by hercules brabazon on Mon Aug 15, 2016 5:17 pm

I've just bought this handthrown salt glazed stoneware jug, which I assume  is German. Linear decoration in dark blue on the front with a simple motif on either side. Unmarked except for 1/2 (probably for half litre) incised low down, near  the base of the handle. Underside showing the "thumbprint" effect.

Did Germany use the imperial "1/2"?

I haven't actually checked the capacity to see if it's in litres....

"Modern Art" is produced by incompetents, sold by charlatans and bought by ignoramuses?

It is enlightening to juxtapose "Fine Art" to "Modern Art"
