Fantastic Stoneware Vase with Carved Decoration 1950s
This is a real beauty! I've had it for ages, but never been able to identify it. It is made of stoneware and has a very attractive carved diamond pattern round the body, with ridged banding above and below.
The inside is glazed a glossy dark brown, while the outside it matte. It is really well made and is so tactile. I thought it might be Denby, but it isn't marked and there is nothing like it in my Denby reference books. I guess it dates to about the 1950s. It stands 8.25" tall. I'd be so pleased if someone could identify who made it.

I think it's German. East German, maybe, because if the lack of marks.

Not Denby. I would agree European, maybe French.

Strange but it just hadn't occurred to me that it might not be British. I'll get trawling through French & German pottery and see what I can turn up.
