Indian? Sanskrit Hindi? Bottle Flask - probably Bombay School of Art

This is an old antique pottery vessel with a turquoise "relief" pattern. It has a script on the underside which I hope someone can identify for me. If you are able to identify its origins, date it would be much appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation, never disappointed by the expert help given via this site.

Looks quite close to some of the Bombay School of Art work (which was marketed commercially in Britain):

Looks like antique Persian to me.

Highly likely it's Bombay school of art. Attached is a link to a photo bucket image of the back of a BSOA charger. The Bombay school appear to have signed in an ancient Indian alphabet called nagari script and yours looks to be the same.

People do confuse this stuff with Persian or middle eastern pottery due to the heavy use of flowers and leaves in decoration. But the colours are often very different. If you ever get a chance to handle some of the old Islamic pottery you will also find they tend to be very light and finely thrown. The Bombay school ones I have handled tend to be thicker and dare I say more rustic (possibly reflecting the students that made them)?
