Alan Wallwork - querying mark

Post by lindylou08 on April 16th 2016, 6:00 pm

I was asked by a friend to identify this heavily potted cylinder vase.
Had a feeling it was an early Wallwork but I'm confused by mark. Appears to be J on its side in a triangle and the W has two dots in a square.

Thoughts please

I have handled hundreds of Wallworks and never seen a W like that without even considering the J mark. The decoration does look in the style of Wallwork and Rooke but not quite right when compared with pieces I've seen.

I mentioned Bernard Rooke because he was renting space from Alan in Greenwich when they came up with this type of decoration.

My thought is that it might have been made by someone, who had worked for Alan.
