I have seen that mark before but I can't find it in the Owen-Fournier book

No I've had it a few years and not been able to identify it. It seems well potted and I love the way some of the decoration goes through to the natural colour of the clay.

The mark on this large brown stoneware jug looks a bit more interesting than the jug itself.  Looks like a reversed capital letter L with a small e inside, followed by a D.  Perhaps it could be a French name Le D...., but it's a British-looking pot.  Can anyone help, please?

I saw a teapot with the same design in the BHF shop in Musselburgh recently, would be interesting to find out who made them.

Roy: it might well be the same pot. I got it at the BHF shop in Leith. I thought it was a teapot or coffee pot at first because it had a lid sellotaped on top, but it turned out that the lid didn't match. I think perhaps BHF have a policy of circulating unsold stuff round their branches in descending order of classiness. Eventually the sad old pots that nobody wants fetch up at the bottom of the heap in the Leith shop, where I take pity on them and give them a good home.

That sounds like the same pot, it did indeed have a lid sellotaped to the top.

Le Dieu Pottery, Norwich - Richard Wilson worked there in the 70s and 80s but with a gap from 1980-87 so possibly others ran it too.
