Hello. Can some kind soul provide a hint as to what this mark might be. It is on a footed porcelain egg cup, delicately hand painted, with a thin gold rim. I've searched all over and can't find anything that even comes close.

Some marks are simply a short hand version of the potter's name. We need a photo of the rest of the pot, please.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. The cup is, of course, small -- about 1 1/2 inches high. The feathers of the crane are gently incised. The reeds carry around to the other side, as do the clouds.

I've found similar designs on 1920s-40s eggshell porcelain. Haven't found a kiln name yet. I suspect they were made by a number of kilns in one of the Japanese prefectures such as Kutani. The mark may symbolise Mt Fuji, so all it means is 'made in Japan'. If you google 'Japanese eggshell porcelain' you'll see similar pieces. Also similar pieces on the Gotheborg.com site
