Chinese/Japanese/Or ? Empty Chinese/Japanese/Or ?

I know zero about these pieces. Not even sure where it is made but I was asked if I could put it on here as the owner is tech illiterate. I need help with age and maker if possible. He had it in a cabinet for a while but does use it and would like to know anything at all you can tell me. Thanks

I'm not really an expert on this style of ceramics I lean more towards pottery.

But from what I do know I would make a reasonable bet it's European. You don't say the size but it looks like a coffee can, so a bit smaller than a modern tea cup. The flower decoration is very mid to late 19th century and crops up on a wide variety of items from vases to cups and saucers. The gold detail looks hand applied but not of great quality so it could be a Chinese copy after all. But the odds would point towards central Europe, most oriental items carry a mark even if its a wrong one. This just carries a little gold V so possibly Austrian? Not sure but if you assumed it was about 150 years old and European you would not be far off my opinion. I would suggest filling it with coffee and enjoying it.

I'm leaning more towards 19th C English, probably Staffs, possibly Ironstone.
The green mark would be the decorator's, and the gold mark the gilder's.

I didn't think the gold was good enough for Masons Ironstone that's why I suggested European rather than just English ? But it is in that style so more than possible. I think we agree European someplace and 19th century though. So just need an expert to pop up with a name now Excellent

If indeed it is Ironstone, hard to tell without handling it, but the shape, the handle,
the foot, and the Flow-blue colour, are very typical.

That is good news. I had English as my guess! 100 yrs old-ish is a good age. I think these pieces should be used on occasion. I will go down the ironstone route. I have handled a few pieces of masons and am pretty sure it is ironstone not that I thought of Masons at all :-) Thank you for all the info so far.
7cm in height. Didn't see the 5 in 150 sorry. I like the history of pieces and when they were new pieces. I keep telling my wife that is not weird ! Happy
