I think it's David Leach's personal mark.

But aren't the letters on David Leach's mark raised? And the whole shape of the vase seems a bit inelegant for him.

Maybe try putting corn flour/talc on the mark to see if it is clearer.

............ at £199.99 Buy it Now plus a vague description.

So everyone, including the seller, is saying that it isn't by David Leach.

Let's hope someone doesn't fall for it.

Nothing was confirmed as to the ID of the pot , so best not list as Leach imo .

Thanks big ed,got a bit excited at first, the forum is good for correcting mis ID's as well.
i have looked at his mark and nearly all are raised,i have seen another pressed in like this one,but it could also be a mis id.
it seems that his work was turned out in large numbers by the studio, the thought occur (probably wrongly) that the in-pressed mark is an early one by himself and the others raised one are the studio/factory ones.i say this as the mark seems almost identical except its not raised?.

At David's Lowerdown Pottery items in stoneware made by other potters and some that were made by David himself are marked with the Lowerdown cross mark L+.

The L+ marked items were always cheaper to buy at the pottery and when David was working on his own he made L+ items himself at times so that there was a range of priced items for visitors to buy. I remember buying something from him marked L+ and he said that he had made and decorated it and, if he had put his personal seal on it, could have charged me more. So even having that information from the maker himself doesn't raise the price of an item he made that has the L+ mark.

On some items that David made he used just his personal seal and on others (often larger items) he used both the LD and L+ seals on the same pot.

David Lane, Cam pottery and Abington Pottery, had a DL mark on his early Cam Pottery pieces (1959-64), so maybe it's one of his.

Personally I'd rest it until the end of the year, then relist it at 99p as an unknown piece of studio pottery with a DL mark, and see what happens.
