Stein

Post by NaomiM on March 1st 2015, 2:47 am

Vintage stein, 1/2L, marked H 1268 on the base. Marbled clay with moulded design infilled with buff slip, and with gold highlights. 19th Century? German?

The clay body looks like red earthenware. If so, that doesn't seem what one would expect from Germany.

Not stoneware. A marbled earthenware. American, maybe?
