Billie Powell is a Tasmanian potter who lives and works at Eaglehawk Nest, 80 kilometres east of Hobart. She started potting in around 1980, making slip-decorated domestic stoneware. By the time she wrote her entry for the 1996 potters' directory, she was also making smoke-fired wares in an above-ground pit. see The Journal of Australian Ceramics, 43#3, 2004, p. 74
