Hi,

I'm trying to get some further details on my Grandmothers tea service, so am hoping that somebody here can help.

I have established that is is made by Grindley but cannot seem to pin down the pattern number or name after extensive Google image and eBay searches.   I was wondering if it is a subset of the 'Creampetal' pattern, but am unsure. There appears to be no consistent pattern or otherwise marking on the bases except the Grindley logo, all the plates and saucers have either '54' or '64' and a green mark. The cups have neither.

The saucer pictured below is approx 140mm in diameter, the colour is cream and the sides have 3 concentric ridges.  I hope somebody can help shed some light on it.

From Goddens, this mark was used from 1936-1954.
I would guess it's pre-war from the design though.

It may not have had a pattern name as such.
The numbers could refer to pattern, batch, or decorator.

Denbydump may well be correct, as the 1930s was a time when getting the pottery out there was more important than a pattern name.

The pattern does look familiar but I can't come up with a name. Maybe your best bet it to trawl through the patterns on the site on the link below or even send them an image. They deal with these things all the time so are probably your best bet.

Best of luck

Great link, many thanks. Nothing stands out as identical, but have sent them an image.
