Hello,

I'm trying to identify what I think is a rice bowl. I think it's quite old but there are no markings on it at all that I can find. I'll add some pictures and if anyone could give me any clues, I'd be most appreciative. It appears to be black transfer ware that's been painted. Any help or direction for me to find out more? Cheers.

It looks to me to be from the last quarter of the 19th century and made in the West. It might have been imported from the UK or made locally. Probably a sugar bowl - they loved their sugar back then.

Just from one of the many factories producing inexpensive earthenware, so even if it was in good condition it would be worth very little.

I agree with SP, looks like  aVictorian transfer printed and hand coloured sugar or slop bowl. Made in one of the Staffordshire factories. Difficult to say which one because they tended to pinch/share each other's pattern books.
