Large pot marked AV - British ?? Empty Large pot marked AV - British ??

Hi
Found this today. Stands 18cm high and is 29cm in diameter incl. handles. Stoneware with a clear, impressed backstamp AV.  I  get the impression it may not be English!!  I'm sure someone on here can put me right ( I hope), although I do have the habit of coming across pots that appear to be destined to remain identified !!

I have a cup and saucer with this mark. Still not ID-ed it. Decoration looks very similar to Seth Cardew's stuff. Maybe an ex-student of his?
