There are some impressed numbers in the base but really not legible.

It may well be a Poole plain freeform 1950s flower trough.
If the numbers could be 313 that's it.
Not a great pic in the book to compare, but the overall shape looks right.

Yep, you're right DD definitely Poole in Panther Black Glaze.
