Is this German?
I need some help in identifying this vase. It has a lava type glaze which is impregnated with white flecks. The colour is brown and in fact is darker than the photos. (I I am looking for a new camera). The mark appears to be in the German manner with the model number followed by the size in centimetres. Unsure what the incised initials stand for, possibly ML.
Would appreciate any help and comments you may offer.

Re: Is this German?
I think this was possibly made at the Bauhuis, Margarethenhöhe Essen circa 1923 -1940.
My German is not brilliant, perhaps our German friends could offer some insight.

Re: Is this German?
Thanks for your suggestions, styleinvasion. I will put another suggestion to you for your ideas.
This vase is very similar to a design by Theodor Bogler for Maria Laach Abbey Keramik who made a similar item in a blue glaze in the 1950's.
Perhaps this is an early example of theirs with incised marks and made before they used raised impressed marks.
Just my thoughts.

Re: Is this German?
The studio pieces by bogler i've seen has been signed TB, and his handmade maria laach pieces i've seen showed a hand incised M. Laach or hand incised Maria Laach.... but i haven't seen a lot.....
The clay and glaze points more into the westerwald area.... but thats just a guess as well.... i've just searched for wim mühlendyck's sons signature but haven't found it yet... i think i have 1 or 2 vases with this signature in one of my banana boxes... would be nice if they turn out to be boglers... but i'm not convinced at all

Thanks, styleinvasion, for all your comments and help. It seems as though it will remain a mystery for the moment.

Re: Is this German?
Hi NaomiM, thanks for your suggestion. Yours does seem to be by Melitta Teubner and uses the same red clay as other examples.
My vase is made from a different clay and the mark is not the same.
I have tried the Facebook German Pottery Forum but no one can id my vase for certain.
Still Pending!
