Tremar male figure ?? Empty Tremar male figure ??

Hi All.

What are your thought on this.
It looks to me to be Tremar. It is a heavy stoneware like tremar and just general seems like the other figures and animals I have.
But it is quite a bit larger. I don't really want to rip the felt off the base to look for a stamp, unless I really have to.

He stands almost 6 inches tall.

Paper backed, Felt base.

Shown with some other known figures for size.

So, what are your thoughts.
Anyone seen anything similar before?

Thanks for any help.

Looks too big to me as they were all sold in standard boxes.

It doesn't match with any models on the list which I will post on
the Tremar thread soon.

Yeh, it's not a part of the standard people range, that I do know.
The boxes were different for the different ranges - baby birds had a different box size to people.

So I'm just wondering if this is something un-common, or even - did they make stuff at the pottery that weren't sent out to shops in boxes??

It just seems like it is Tremar. But very similar if it's someone else.

Your giant man does look like Tremar but I'm wondering if someone was copying as a while back I posted 'a man in a boat' and he also had paper stuck to the bottom that was partially ripped so it may have had the same felt backing at one time as yours.

I've just had a look at your man in boat and they could be related? it's hard to tell from just pic's.

But looking a bit more I found these web pages from what looks to be an American site on Tremar Pottery.
http://stationstart.com/tremar-people_01/

This one mentions similar people that seem to have been made from Tremar molds, but by Country Craft Potteries - their size and colour is slightly different.

But also on this page, it mentions a bit about the start of Tremar. Specifically, the fact that at first items were HAND MADE, before expanding and using molds.

So, if there are very early hand made items around, perhaps we have some??

I'll add these links to the Tremar page.
