Re: Vase signed RUTH
Nice vase, but I suspect it's a hobby potter.

Naomi, I just knew you were going to say that!
Looks to be competent potting and glazing though.

Re: Vase signed RUTH
The base is odd - not seen one like that before - and I don't think the glaze on the bottom half is competently applied. Other than that, it's lovely.

I think I saw this potter at Earth & Fire 3 or 4 years ago

Re: Vase signed RUTH
The glaze hasn't run over and under the base, look at that clean orange circle
on the base pic. precise potting in the spiral neck, in what looks to be quite
groggy clay. Is it perfectly vertical Ed?

Re: Vase signed RUTH
yes perfectly , stoneware , the spiral bit in the neck is textured , all in all in very well balanced little piece only measuring 6" High .

Re: Vase signed RUTH
I suggest you scratch "Duckworth" at the bottom and take it from there.
I'm with Naomi on this one but it's not a shoddy hp like the one I have been keeping my lips sealed over.

No Paul Just Ruth , I did wonder about someone signing Ruth for Ruthanne , that would be Tudball , as it is a small piece anythings possible .

Re: Vase signed RUTH
Although it appears very well thrown, the glazes look typical of those bought by people starting to make pots or available at community type colleges. That is the main reason that I think it is not by someone who has begun to sell their work seriously.
