lidded Studio Pot Orient10

The pot arrived today and there is the remnants of a very old label attached , the quality is excellent , better than pics can show I think it is oriental or oriental influence .

I'm seeing seperate strokes. They started at the 7 and ended at the Z or N. The Z or N is made up of 3 separate strokes in it's own right.
I'm still seeing 74/N

no the so called tail of the 4 is continuous onto the side of the N, the 7 was the last to be made it is an oriental mark as the pot suggests imo  Shrugs

I think the pot looks likely to be British personally. (the throwing, way the lid sits, glaze, base)

Also seeing 74/N, sorry Ed!  Big Laughter  Shrugs

lidded Studio Pot 2838678103 Ok Fair enough potty , but I guarantee that's not what it reads , people see what the recoginise and as very few on here recognise any marks other than in books it will sadly remain un id'd as per normal ,

This type of marking on stoneware also seems to be a common British thing, I assume using some form of oxide.

Regardless of whatever the mark reads, I still stand by the above, though I can't say I've ever seen 74/N in any book though  Big Laughter

I would be very surprised if it wasn't British in original and that the mark on the base wasn't a code for the glaze mix used or possibly the stoneware body mix.

The sticky area would most likely have been a label with the pottery name, address and telephone number. That points to the pottery not using a seal at least at the time of production of this lidded pot.

Therefore a positive identification would need a similar piece without the label removed to be owned or having passed through the hands of someone looking at this thread. So possible but not very likely.

The label looks like it has two geese facing each other on it, or is that just my imagination?
