Pair of ceramic figures - ID

I'm sure I've seen these somewhere before. It's driving me mad. Please, someone, put me out of my misery... (Bit dramatic?)

I think we've had others. I vaguely recall someone saying they were made in Israel.

Could the markings be correct for Eastern Russia?

there is one on ebay at the moment , they seem to be going down the Rusian front as well  Laughter UAA - University Alaska Anchorage maybe , old russian connection and they sell pottery .
