Rupert Andrews

Post by pot-bellied amateur on June 20th 2014, 5:13 pm

This is the first pot I ever bought - approaching 40 years ago! It was bought at a craft fair at Warwick University. When we bought it he told us that he had been working on this special crackle glaze finish & thought he'd finally cracked it. It's still one of my favourite pots.

He's moved on a bit nowadays - http://www.rupertandrewspottery.com/ - I think I prefer his more understated older style.

This is the most recent pot I've bought.

It's not the best mocha glaze I've seen but I'm pleased with it.

The last time I looked him up he was potting in his back garden in Glastonbury. I suspect that now his work has a wider distribution he has a bit more substantial set-up.

Interesting long stem vase - Rupert Andrews

Post by RVsaid on August 5th 2014, 9:38 am

Hi Everyone

A recently unearthed pleasing stem vase with narrow neck. Approx 9 inches high with part glazed based with what could be L R (reversed) and then Y or V?

Rupert Andrews. He uses a backwards R in his mark. The rest is simply glaze in the edges of the stamp.

Backwards R in the RA. Sorry, didn't mean to imply there wasn't the A in his mark.

Great purple & green crackle tea bowl/cup - Rupert Andrews

Post by Mordeep on September 7th 2015, 9:07 am

Hello again

Please excuse the multiple postings. I am having a bit of a clear out of the mystery pile this morning (only another 100 to go). Don't worry I will refrain from taking over the whole forum with my pots Surrender

Here is one of my favourite mysteries of late. It really is a great bowl with real skill and style but the maker has eluded me. Stands 9cm high and I guess you would call it a tea bowl. It's light and shouts quality. Fingers crossed someone has seen the mark before because I would love to read up about the potter.

Thanks

List as many as you like, ideally some of the ones you already know about too, in the existing potter threads or can always make a thread if none exists Excellent

Thanks Potty

I was just coming on here to say Rupert Andrews when I read your posts. I came across the signature while I was reading through the marks book for someone else this morning.

I will also take your advice and as I come across them pop them in the known artists area so others can see too.

Cheers
