Face Jugs Toby Jug Style

Post by Marcusborra on June 11th 2014, 9:14 pm

No idea who made these. I can't imagine the Chinese making them, they are so English, miniatures in the Toby Jug style. They do seem to have some age but not certainly not 18th Century and probably not even 19th Century. There are hand painted numbers on the base G2 & K2 which seems to be applied with a ball point pen so may have been written later.
Height of the first: 9.5cm
Height of the second: 9cm

Slip cast. The washed out colours make them look 1930s French or German to me, based on some slip cast French figures we've had in the shop before now. I can't add anything more, though.
