as usual I've got no idea really...

Very nice. Looks like it's decorated with a picture of a Chinese incense censer. Verse is in two alphabets. For the Tibetan market?

As to age, it does look pretty new. If it was 20th Century I'd expect some sort of red ink export stamp on the base. New stuff seems to be coming out with just a label which peals off and then it's passed off as older. If the inside is clean and there are no old splatters of magnolia paint on the outside then I'd go with new.

Not my area at all, but my guess would have been 19th century.

Edit: Seems I'm not alone after all, replied at the same time!   

Is that rust patches on the inside? Base certainly looks like 19th century possibly even late 18th century as the glaze looks to have an almost blueish tinge to it. The difficulty is that many of the more modern, early 20th century copies are they are made to look older and you really need to handle the piece to get a feel for it. May be worth sending some pics to one of the museums, don't know where you are but the British Museum have a good Asian Ceramics department which should help, or one of the big auction houses such as Bonhams. Whatever it is I think it's a fantastic vase.

it stands round about 30cm in height

Rust patches or iron particles is typically a sign of age. The clay used was rich in iron and this oxidises over time hence the rust patches or spots. With the glaze I'd be tempted to say mid to late 18th century.
