Black glaze vase
Thought this was Silchester ware, but it's not. Nor does it appear to be Dicker ware. Who else made black glazed pottery? Eastern European, maybe?
Difficult to see the mark due to the glaze pooling at one end, but it appears to be something like CISSIN Suaga HV

Re: Black glaze vase
Could it be Knight's Tintagel? They used a black glaze and a hand-incised signature.
Re: Black glaze vase
Thanks. Saw a black Tintagel jug last month, which was signed Tintagel. Doesn't seem to be the same signature on the base of this vase.

Re: Black glaze vase
Mohács Pottery (by Laszló Reininger, Mohács, Hungary) is black, but unglazed. No luck there.
This distinctive unglazed black pottery has been produced in and around the town of Mohács in southern Hungary for centuries. The black color derives from a special firing process in which the kiln is deprived of oxygen, causing the clay to carbonize.....members of his family have been producing this type of pottery for over 200 years.
