ID help please Scandinavian? dish stylized bird signed SF?

Post by vanmann on March 30th 2014, 2:50 pm

Hoping for some help in identifying this 21cms diameter dish. Appears to be signed SF. Very fine material, porcelain perhaps. Guessing Scandinavian. All thoughts appreciated, John

I was watching a couple on ebay. Did you buy one if them? No idea who the potter is. The mark looks a little like a Maori fish hook so I wondered if it was from New Zealand.

Another thought was native Canadian, like the Haida pottery.

Listed as: rare studio pottery dish with unknown makers mark scandinavian duck egg blue

There was another one looking like a turtle with the same mark. They're on my Mystery Items Pinterest board, down the bottom.

Have looked at Maori and Canadian influenced pottery and this looks to be much finer, Naomi. It looks identical to the one on your.Pinterest page.

Yes it does. I watched it for a few relistings hoping the seller would drop the price, but it remained unsold. I assume the ebayer was the one selling at the car boot.

Any idea of seller's location and listing price? I was near Chelmsford, elderly seller didn't look like typical (if there is such a thing) ebayer

The other item was listed as:
A Studio Pottery Dish Bowl with a Fish Pattern Retro Vintage Backstamped

Seller was in London. I'll pm you the link. Maybe he gave it to his parents to sell.
