Any thoughts please on these vases. I can make out on both bases 8" - 3 -R and Dorset but the 2nd base appears to have a name incised below Dorset. Just wondering if it is possible to attribute these to a specific pottery or are they too generic in style. All suggestions much appreciated, John

Looks like it's a date 8-3-12, so made in 1912.
Falls into the Devonware; mottoware;; cottageware category, and made by one of the little potteries making these sorts of items for tourists. I'll see if it's in my Devonware book.

Thanks Naomi I have attached another photo of base, I don't think it's the date. There are definite marks above the 8 suggesting inches and they, in fact, measure 8 inches tall

I think, looking at bases on the Studio Pottery page, Ed you are right they certainly look very similar from the numbers and the Dorset script, Thanks

Yes It's Crown dorset , I can't make out the other incised name on yours , maybe ends in "ARDS" Shrugs

look up crown dorset mottoware on ebay , there is a clear base shot on a jug that maybe suggests that the number 12 is possibly initials.

Charles Collard is the link between the aller vale longpark and your piece, might be worth doing a bit of research on him
