Tazza? - Denby

Post by Nik on August 16th 2013, 12:24 am

Not sure if this qualifies as a tazza but I don't know what else to call it, maybe 'nibbles bowl.'

4.7cm high 13cm dia, dark brown outer glaze to textured body. Green inner with white trailing.

The colour of the body and the stamp remind me of Hillstonia/Moira.

Looks like Denby to me.

Would Denby do an applied glaze that looks like rick rack? I've never seen that.

Yes it is unusual, but everything else about it says vintage Denby to me.

Fairly sure it's Langley or Denby, but I always forget which "Made in England" mark is which. Shock

I have several pieces of Denby and one piece of Langley in the cupboard next to me.  The mark above, is most like my Langley piece - the layout of the words and the fact that England is spaced slightly wider than "made in".  The only difference is that my piece has Langley and the windmill on it as well.

None of my Denby pieces have the wording laid out like this.  They either say "England" or have "Made in England' all on one line.

My pieces are all later, more contemporary bits though, for what that's worth.

Definitely Denby. One of those giftware ranges from the 50s,
of which there are several, which are so far un-named.
