no idea what i have

i found this in the attic of my home it was wrapped in a piece of news paper from 1978 the home was built in 1860 i dont know if these dates help at all and if the pic is unclear the mark on the bottom is an AE marking

Looks turn of the Century (1900) Continental porcelain. Might be German or Austrian. Missing a lid. Can't tell from the photos if the decoration is hand painted.

personally, i think it's Japanese. The gold on red mark is found in many variations on Japanese porcelain, as is a Cherry blossom type mark. It has similarities to early 20thc noritake.

I was starting to lean towards Japanese. Useful to have a push in that direction.

thanks for all of the help i will keep looking my wife is driving me nuts with it lol. everything in our home is a country living style and she is willing to keep this piece as long as we can explain why a non- matching piece of pottery is in a country blue- white setting.
